Joshua McMahan

Joshua decided to pursue architecture due to his interest in merging creative design with practical applications of how it can positively impact people’s lives. Having grown up in rural Texas, he studied architecture at Texas A&M University, graduating with his Bachelors in 2018 and his Master’s in Architecture in 2020.

It was during his time in college that he was given the opportunity to travel across the world, experiencing both the historical structures of Italy and France as well as the innovative building and city design of Japan. Throughout his time abroad, the facets of architectural design that remained with him weren’t the intricate building forms, but the spaces designed with the individual in mind. Something as simple as a small third story outdoor green space overlooking the busy shopping district of Tokyo, or a circular glass conference room located amidst an infinity pool that if seen from the right angle would appear as if it was simply an extension of the ocean beyond.

It is these small moments of architectural connection with people and their environment that drive his pursuit to design buildings to enhance the user experience and create a sense of place. Josh appreciates space that inspires the imagination, beautifies the environment, and gives people tranquility, whether in the center of busy Omotesando or in the tranquil mountain ranges of Wyoming.
