Ward + Blake Architects to Design Teton County Childcare Centers
Three locations in Jackson will help ease town’s shortage of infant, toddler care
Jackson, Wyoming – Teton County has awarded Ward + Blake Architects the contract for three new childcare facilities in Jackson, each of which will be open to children ranging from infants to pre-kindergarten age. The first facility, located in the Rafter J subdivision, will be built in several phases and will ultimately accommodate 250 children. The second facility – to be constructed at 555 E. Broadway Avenue – will serve 125 children, with plans to eventually add a new playground, parking and drop-off area. The existing Children’s Learning Center at 105 Mercill Avenue is the site for the third facility, which will accommodate 125 children plus a new office space for the CLC staff.
“We’re excited to have the opportunity to assist the community in helping to resolve a major daycare shortage crisis,” says Ken Mahood, senior project manager for Ward + Blake. “We look forward to designing spaces for experiential learning that will engage children and help them understand the world around them as they grow.” The firm will be collaborating on the project with nationally recognized childcare design consultant Woody Arthur of D.W. Arthur Associates Architects of Boston.
